Baby Dedication
January 21 10:30 - 11:45 am | Park Baptist Church
For many couples, a baby/child dedication is an essential ceremony that welcomes new life and gives the parents an opportunity to publicly confess to the Lord their desire to raise their child in the wisdom and fear of the Lord (Proverbs 9:10).
A baby dedication can be a misleading term. While the ceremony itself is the time when we dedicate a baby/child to God, the purpose of the ceremony is to dedicate ourselves to raising up the child in the nurture and admonition of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4).
Dedicating a child is a time when a pastor, representing the Church, and parents stand before all the congregation, hold the child, pray over them, and ask for God’s guidance as the child grows. It can be a meaningful moment in the life of the family.
It is a public promise to the church body (and to God and to the child) that the parents will prayerfully teach and lead the child in a Christ-like walk. By publicly showing their intentions, they are held accountable by all those who watch, and the church body covenants to support the parents in their desire to raise godly children.
If you would like to participate with your child in this ceremony please contact the church office, giving your name and the child’s full name with spelling. You DO NOT have to be a member of Park Baptist Church to participate.
